What happens
on my first visit?
- Arrive right at your appointment time not earlier as we allow for paperwork time when scheduling your appointment.
- The patient completes paperwork so your provider
may learn more about your condition.
- The provider
performs a comprehensive history during consultation and performs a complete physical evaluation regarding your condition.
- You will receive treatment and follow-up or home recommendations.
What do I need to bring with me?
- If you physician gave you a prescription
or referral, bring that with you.
- Payment
is expected at the time services are rendered.
How
should I dress?
- Wear
loose fitting clothing so we can examine and treat the area of concern. For example, if you have a knee problem, it is best
to wear shorts or pants with loose wide legs so we can pull the pant leg over the knee. If it is your lower back, just
wear your usual attire. We can work around most clothing.
How long will each treatment last?
- The initial visit will last about 60 minutes and follow-up sessions will last 30-45 minutes, sometimes
longer depending on your individual program.
How
many visits will I need?
- The number of visits varies from case to case depending on the severity of your condition, past medical history,
and how quickly you respond to care. Your provider will perform regular re-evaluations to determine your progress and needs
as you progress.
What do physical
therapists do?
- Physical
therapists are heath care professionals who diagnose and treat individuals who have medical problems, injuries or health-related
conditions that limit their abilities to move, function or perform activities of daily living.
- Physical therapists evaluate the patient and develop a plan of
care using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
What do occupational therapists do?
- Occupational therapists are health
care professionals who treat individuals who have medical problems, injuries or health related conditions that limit their
ability to perform activities of daily living. Occupational therapists help children and adults improve physical and cognitive
skills needed to achieve or regain independence.
What
do chiropractors do?
- Chiropractors are health care professionals that focus on restoring proper motion in the body’s joints-primarily
the spine- to allow for natural movement and function.
- Chiropractors
use gentle hands-on techniques in addition to exercises and stretching techniques to increase range of range, and flexibility
that reduces pain and helps you feel better.
Who
pays for treatment?
- Most
health insurance carriers pay for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and chiropractic care. Workers’
compensation and automobile insurance carriers also pay for treatment. Patients without health insurance can pay for treatment
directly. Contact the office for details about your coverage and payment options.
Is therapy painful?
- In most cases treatment provides pain relief! Our providers focus on reducing inflammation, which
in many cases causes stiffness and soreness. Some patients may experience stiffness after therapy if they have been immobile
or if they have underwent a recent surgery.
Can
I go to any therapy office?
- Yes you can. You can choose where you go for therapy. If your doctor gives you a referral or prescription
for therapy at another facility, we will honor that referral or prescription in this office. Sometimes other facilities are
too far away or cannot get you in for an appointment right away.
Do I need a referral from my doctor to come to United Therapy Associates?
- Most insurance plans do not require
a referral for services. However, every plan varies with referral requirements. Call the office for information about the
referral requirements for your insurance.
Is
my provider licensed?
All providers in our office are state licensed and board certified.
